Xypex was selected to waterproof the waste and water treatment plants, grease traps, and waste pits by Obayashi Corporation, the main contractor. After repairing defective concrete, over 2,000 tie holes were sealed using Xypex Concentrate with a 2:1 cement mortar dosed with Admix C-2000 per weight of cement. Afterward, a two-coat system of Xypex Concentrate was applied to all tanks. Due to the contractor’s experience with Xypex in previous projects, construction joints were sealed with Xypex Concentrate Dry-Pac only, without installation of any waterstops. Total quantity treated was approximately 1,120 m2 and 514 m of construction joints, completed in August, 2000.
